Celebrating its 18th anniversary this year, TeamEgo has existed as a dominant force in the competitive online gaming community from its inception. A hybrid gaming community/gaming clan, TeamEgo is comprised of a close-knit consortium of computer gaming enthusiasts, game developers, and technophiles. TeamEgo is a unique and somewhat clandestine organization with rich and storied past. The origins of TeamEgo can be traced back to the very dawn of online gaming, appearing in a rudimentary form on various BBSs administered by various TeamEgo members, some of whom have since rose through the ranks of leading companies within the technology industry, their identities shrouded in mystery.
TeamEgo emerged prominently into view in 1991, when the organization’s Executive Officer and driving force to this day, Carl Freeman, aka EgoBruiser, formed the first legendary TeamEgo squad in the multiplayer game Red Baron on TSN. Having established itself as the top-ranked squad in Red Baron, TeamEgo moved on to GEnie CyberStrike where it established itself as the team to beat and its members as the top players in the game.
Through the years TeamEgo has competed in various leagues and events in numerous MPOGs and has always risen to the top. In CyberStrike, TeamEgo won various leagues and competitions and retired while on top. On Sony's Tanarus, playing under the team name MERCS, they placed second in their league after a hard fought campaign where they lost only one match. Stops between CS and Tanarus included Confirmed Kill (now known as WarBirds), Cyberstorm on KALI, Multiplayer BattleTech (MPBT) on Solaris, Terra 2021 and whatever else showed promise as a new team game. Currently TeamEgo plays Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament 2004, Wolfenstein ET, America’s Army, and Battlefield Vietnam.
In recent years, TeamEgo sprouted a subsidiary gaming team, the well-known elite RPG guild known as Mortis Consortium, which many experts and industry insiders consider to be not only the top role-playing guild in existence, but of all time.
